Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre make up the classic Rhône Red Blend, often with Carignan, Cinsault, and Counoise added. While these blends originated in France’s southern Rhône Valley, they are now made in other countries as well. In Priorat, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon are sometimes included, while in California, Petite Sirah is often used.
